OCTOBER NOTES 2020
Updated: Oct 20, 2020
Hello Music Friends!
We hope you are enjoying a well-earned holiday break before the final quarter of this VERY LONG YEAR.... Exciting News.... We are all counting down the time until we can see each other really soon, offline! Zoom classes have its pros and cons, but it will be nice to have the choice.
Here is our proposed plan for term 4:
UPDATED: ▪5 October - Start of term 4, Online classes
▪19 October (pending confirmation from DHHS) - Either Online or Face to Face classes at the Hello Music Prahran studio.
We have not yet had confirmation from all partner schools regarding when music teachers will be allowed to return on site. Our recommendation is to book online classes first and then we can change times if/when we move on site face to face.

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE EXAMINATIONS BOARD A message from the General Manager, Australian Music Examinations Board (excerpt below) ".... (this week) the Victorian Government published ‘Victoria’s roadmap to re-opening’, which has caused us to re-think and adjust our plans for Term 4. We are hopeful that we will be able to offer face-to-face-examinations in the 5th Metropolitan Melbourne Practical session on the following dates: (1) Piano exams at the Hawthorn studios from 26 October till 22 November (dates to avoid and transfers to video to be notified by 12 October). (2) Instrumental and vocal exams at the Hawthorn studios from 23 November till 17 December (dates to avoid and transfers to video to be notified by 19 October). (3) At private venues, by arrangement, from 26 October till 17 December. (eg Hello Music) Given the high level of uncertainty about face-to-face examining possibilities, candidates are encouraged to transfer to a Video Repertoire examination at no additional cost. The Repertoire exam generally requires the presentation of one additional piece; there are no Technical Work, Section III or Extra List requirements. (In most subjects, the Repertoire exam requirements from Grades 2 to 7 can be met by ‘upgrading’ one Extra List piece to be the Own Choice work.) For instructions for HOW TO PREPARE A VIDEO EXAM, click here: Should it not be possible to complete either a face-to-face or video examination by 17 December, a full refund will be given, to be processed in the week commencing 14 December. It would be appreciated if you could consider the alternatives available for your candidate/s and let us know of any changes to enrolment by 12 October (Piano) and 19 October (Instrumental-Vocal), respectively...." Please discuss these options with your teacher and/or contact the Hello Music office to discuss your options either via email or phone- 0414776613.
